Does anyone know how long for turkeys to hatch

Conroe, TX

We have 3 turkey eggs under a hen and two are pipping. One has been pipping for more than 24 hours and hasn't made a lot of progress. I know chicks usually get out in 24 hours or shortly thereafter but what about turkeys? Should I worry that this one is not out yet?

I don't know. All I know is it takes 28 days incubation for turkeys.

I have had chicks that finally hatched successfully after pipping more than 24 hours earlier, and I have had chicks that when I finally helped them out had leg problems that had made it hard for them to push the shells apart. I would think being under a broody would help a lot with humidity problems which are usually what you worry about with a slow hatcher.

It finally hatched. It was out this morning but still wet so it hatched in the early morning hours. The other was close to being out and finally got itself out as well. So far they are doing okay. The third egg showed no signs of hatching so I took it and candled it. It was a dud, nothing there, so we got two turkeys at least.

Congratulations!
