CLOSED: HAVE: Mt.Fuji Japanese Morning Glory 'Fuji no AO'

(Zone 7a)

I don't know how well this plant travels..I just have more then I need. I shipped MG's many years ago and was told they arrived fine. This one is only about 3 inches right now but beginning to flower and bloom.

Not for Postage...other annual offers are fine.

Kim when you ship it make sure it has plenty of water. Mgs drink alot I usually use like that new clingy saran wrap to help with moisture and wet newspaper. They can dry out pretty quick in heat in travel.

just ideas to help get it to its new home not to stroked out.

Thanks!

Do you think it's too late to start MG seeds? I've got a bunch.

Hmmmm probably not..If you start them now I believe they will still do well...But I force my MG seeds along with most. I make them germinate in 2 days.

yea i do the paper towel method and nick them and they are up in like two days to plant . also use bloom boost on mine a couple weeks after i have planted them in their one gallon container.

Yes, I can make them germinate fast too, especially now with the greenhouse really warm. I've been soaking some japanese varieties. Some are a year or two old so checking to see if they are good. Have you seen the guy from japan selling seeds on ebay lately?

who is it?

Albrightsville, PA(Zone 4a)

I really don't remember the name. I haven't planted any MG's in a couple years. Figured I plant what I have here now and maybe get some fresh seeds for next year.

Well those seeds were years old! lol I germinate seeds 10 years old

MG's have a long shelf life since they are hard coat seeds .. I planted some 10 year old seeds and all of them came up.

Cool. I don't know where I could plant all these to keep them from cross pollinating. lol -

I don't know if you have a store called Dollar Tree .. its a store where everything is a dollar. Anyways .. you can buy those little gauzy favor bags where I live .. If I want to grow a lot of morning glory together yet get purebred seeds, the night before a bud opens I just slip one of those little bags around the bud, then in the morning hand pollinate it and put the bag back on .. you can cut off the petals with no problem if you want .. once the pod starts forming you can remove the bag .. I usually tie a piece of colored yarn around the base of the pod .. to let me know which ones have been sequestered.

I also use the bags around seed pods of plants I want to make sure I collect the seeds when they are ripe .. the picture is of the bags I have around the pods of trillium.

cool idea Kim seems we hijacked the thread to talk about Mgs and you trying to get rid of a few hehe. But that is a cool idea. Now have a plan to save my daylily seeds from the ever hunger grasshoppers and catapillers. thanks
