Cinderella Fairy Tale for trade

Pearisburg, VA(Zone 7a)

NOTE: July 30
This is back open.......I was going to trade for a japanese maple but lost contact with my trade person. Worried about her since we were in communication for many years. Not sure what happened but I would like to trade the rose. I cut it back when I closed this thread and it has already grown 2.5 feet tall. It's a great rose.

I would only trade for something special. A named, climbing rose, a real japanese maple, something of that sort. Not just a perennial. It must be cold hardy to zone 6/7. DMAIL me if you have something to offer.

ORIGINAL POST

I have a beautiful and healthy Cinderella Fairy Tale rose that is 3 years old, from Palatines for trade. Bareroot. She needs to live in a climiate that is not humid because of balling. I have cut her back and she is ready for digging when a new home is available. I paid $17 for the rose and would like something comparable for exchange - not a random mix of things but 1 or 2 very nice plants. This rose is cold hardy since it came from Palatines but it won't take humidity.

She is lovely but not for this area. Please DMAIL me with your trade suggestions or purchase suggestions. I'm open to a fair trade for another rose, clematis, evergreen (love weeping) or small japanese maple - etc to give some idea of my thoughts for the trade.

I can send picturse of her now, cut back

when I first saw this, I thought you were offering cinderella fairy tales purslane, I got that plant and it's so cool looking. how about that , that there's a rose with the same name.

Hi Kathy,
I don't want this rose since I have 5 already, also from Palatine and I LOVE IT !! but I just want to tell traders who live in a different climate than you that this rose is a 5* PERFORMER for me here in Maine.

Judsonia, AR(Zone 7b)

So that would put it in a sad situation here for me ha LOL i'm zone 7. Kathy do you think it would do well for me

your 7 A I'm just getting into roses and don't know alot about them, but I hav eothers and they are thriving in this heat.

it's humid here, what do you think kathy?

Pearisburg, VA(Zone 7a)

I'm not sure if your humidity is like mine. Your zone is fine and it's very cold hardy like Bridget stated even to her zone 5 and she is the reason I ordered this one - hers are stunning from the pictures I've seen over the years. It's certainly worth a try. I did read your dmail and have responded.

Thanks. I've just dmailed Kathy that I'm concerned about her zone with humidity. I have another person in zone 5 wanting it too. I honestly ordered that rose because of your 5 roses in a picture you posted years ago (2 or 3) since the rose is about 3 years old. But mine have never produced a lovely rose, they ALL ball and the bush looks terrible and I don't even have a picture to show because it was so sad. That's why I cut it back this year - thinking I had nothing to lose. Then decided to post here to see who might be able to do something with this stunning rose because humidity will not allow it to show it's beauty so please - post some pictures.

I don't dare go look at bridget's pictures then LOL I might be hooked . I need to move higher up in the states ;0)

Pam,
I just copied and pasted this from Palatine nurseries in Canada for you.Maybe if you have a sheltered spot ? It is an absolute great rose, see all the awards. It's by a German old and well known company/hybridizer.I get all or most of my roses from Pickering or Palatine in Canada since they are proven winners for me.Personally I LOVE the OGR i.e.alba's,damask's,bourbon's and most of all the moss roses. You might want to look into them since they are extremely cold hardy.

Very healthy, lasting soft pink, full bloom, 4' - 5'+, cut rose, Rom gold medal 2002, Geneve gold medal 2002, Tokyo gold medal 2002, introduced by Palatine. Propagated on hardy Rosa Multiflora rootstock. All roses have been grown and tended for in our family-owned rose nursery.

Kathy,
I WILL get pictures soon, keep getting interrupted by the tel.today.

Thanks, Brigitte. I had two New Dawn climbers and one died after 3 years and the other isn't looking too good either. The rose forum on the 'other' site recommended John Davis
for my zone or Quandra Explorer, so I guess I'll look for those.

catbirdsue is going to get this one. We're trading and she's a zone 5. Bless her heart, it's the least I can do since she was mislead by another trader for peonies.

Kathy,
Order at leat one rose from Palatines for Spring and give it a try. A good healthy rose will be a great addition. I just dmailed you saying to try knockouts or wait for clearance roses but if you would try some of these from Palatines I think you would be happy. Worth the money. I have several Freelanders that are simulare to tea roses but they get larger with a cut flower vase life of 12 -14 days. Strong stems like nurseries. All of those do great in humidity. What color do you like and I'll atleast give you some names of ones that do really well for my humidity.

Ok,
I took 3 pictures as "Cinderella" looks today after days of rain.Planted in April of 2007,first blooms in June of 2007 ( see my picture under my name )

So here is # 1 ...VERY TALL which I let grow to block out the street.

# 2
Here you can see all of the buds and roses that will be open soon.My stone urn is hidden among the roses.I used to have petunias in.

# 3
Here I stuck a yardstick in the ground, you can see it when you look closely .The roses are at least 2 x that tall.

So catbirdsue ...lucky You :-)......plant it where it can grow tall if you want a climber if not prune in spring.

Thanks Kathy. I'm gonna have to go blow up bridget's pics now LOL see how beautiful they are.

Gardiner, ME(Zone 5a)

WOW that is a BEAUTIFUL rose!
Sure wish I had something special to offer in exchange.
All of my daylilies are now un-named (used to all have names) and I know names are important.
Eglantyne; what a pretty lady you are and what lovely gardens you have.

Judsonia, AR(Zone 7b)

yep, it sure is beautiful. Georgious, thanks for sharing

Hi Kim,
long time no see....I haven't been on Dave's for a long time ,at least not on a regular basis. Are you still doing irises ? I am ...startet a iris garden last year.
Thanks for the compliment but now my gardens have turned into a jungle and I need to move a lot of stuff from in front of the roses because they have taken over.It definatly has the wild look right now :-(

Kathy,it used to be......oh man do the roses love me LOL ....BTW not all of them.I had some I got rid of because they just didn't do good for me here in Maine.

Pearisburg, VA(Zone 7a)

And I was lucky to get one! It's doing well Bridget. Now everyone can tell why I love this rose but I NEVER had a rose look like that - to hot and humid here. But it's such a beauty. I need to find another pink like that but one that will take the heat. I'll wait for spring and hit Palatines.

Gardiner, ME(Zone 5a)

Do you have a wish list already ?

Pearisburg, VA(Zone 7a)

Me have a wish list or some of the others - my wish list is always alive and well. LOL
