First 1/2 Dozen!!!

Yay! I was SOOOO thrilled yesterday to find six little eggs in my nesting boxes! I think all but one are bantam eggs, but this morning, my MIL found a guinea sitting on a very small egg. I can't fathom guinea eggs are that small, but maybe she was just chilling in the box that happened to have a bantam egg in it?

Beautiful sight!
Guinea eggs are pretty small, so it may have been hers. I'd say about the size of a bantam egg.

WhoooooHoooo!! Congratulations! The eggs are beautiful, how exciting! How old are the chickens that just started laying?

So are you going to have bacon with those eggs or make a cake or something? LOL

I don't know what we're going to do with them. We got the chickens around the 15th of February, so that'd make them around four months old? Only my ducks and Buff Orpingtons are younger than that.

Wow, so they're laying eggs at 4 months old? Good to know as my chicks were 3 months old yesterday. I was thinking they wouldn't lay until sometime in mid september. Bacon and eggs sooner than I thought LOL.

Mevnmart's chickens are precocious. None of mine have ever started laying that young; I must not treat them right.

Well, with the way our human children start to look like teens at age 10, perhaps chickens are similar. LOL My sons ate all eight (we got two more) and then my middle son was excited to tell his chicken "Awesome" that he ate his eggs the night before. He said "Awesome" was happy to hear it. No eggs so far today, but it's early yet. I'm just hoping soon that they start at least getting to the size of small grocery store eggs so I can sell them at the market. Somehow I don't think the ping-pong balls I've got now are going to be a big seller.

Woo Hoo always exciting to get your very first eggs

How can I tell which ones are chickens and which are guineas? I have no clue who's laying what!

(Zone 5b)

Mevnmart has a secret to getting her chickens to lay so young and she isn't sharing it LOL

I have no clue as to who the eggs might belong to, but they sure are pretty!

My guinnea eggs were a tan to light brown color and were very pointed at the small end if that helps.
