pros/cons of guinea pig vs rabbit

springfield area, MO(Zone 5b)

My daughter currently has a hamster. We really don't like him that well. He is ok to watch, but too small to handle very good. He is always trying to escape and wriggles alot, and boy is he fast. We are afraid of dropping him because he is so tiny. Not really much there to 'pet'.
She would like to get a g pig or maybe a rabbit. I really don't know the difference as far as caring for them. Do they rabbits get a bit larger than a g pig? Do either of them bite? I think our hamster bites everything. He is not aggressive, more like he is tasting you!

So any advice would be nice. Oh, also I don't have a cage, thought I could put a g pig in a large rubber maid? Would a rabbit or a g pig get out of something like that?
We have a chainlink yard, so I thought she could let her pig play outside a little 'free' with her, I think a rabbit would be too fast and maybe get away?
