Cycas revoluta
early male cone (note: seeds around the circumference are from overhead palm, not this plant)

My Sago has a spathe growing out of it also ...(it's the first time I've seen one...) so, it's seeds?
photo?
What are those small plum berries/seeds around the base?
Cool shot by the way!
Those are Triangle palm seeds/fruits that have fallen on the Cycas revoluta
Well they sure compliment the cone!
I have 4 small sago palm plants in 1 gal. container. Can they be planted in zone 8 (Coastal SC) this time of year or should I leave in the pots until fall or spring? Thanks.
male cone
so, how often does it do this? ......and can I actually gather seeds and plant them?...or what?

male cones do not make seeds, they make the pollen for the female's seeds. And you would probably need to be the pollinator since natural pollinators for cycads are not all the readily available in this country (though sometimes beetles are ants will do a semi-favorable job).
