Hi All,
I'm new to the Forum, my name is Josh. I have some Tacca Int. Seeds and Passiflora Edilus, Incartna and Kahuna. I used GA-3 soak on all three since I spoke to the retailer of the seeds, she uses a GA-3 soak and has germinated the Tacca's in as little as 7 DAYS!!! How crazy is that?
Any who, has anyone else used these methods? How have they fared for you?
Thanks Guys
Josh
New Seeds *Tacca And Passifloras* Trying To Germinate :)
a friend here has good luck sprouting out the taccas.. and has done some passi seeds for me using a bleach and hydrogenperoxide soak... and has had great results..
I traded for some green & some black bat flower seeds (Tacca). I believe that it took them about 4 days to reach me. When I got them, the lady had wrapped them in a wet paper towel & stuck them in a zip lock bag. Well imagine my suprise when I opened the bag to find that 15 of them had sprouted!! *These were mixed together so Im not sure which ones had sprouted but was over joyed to find that some had sprouted!!
Wow, did those seedlings make it on to full grown plants?
Lucky you, most of us wait half a year :)
11 of them are still growing! This was only a little over a month ago so they are still not fully grown yet. They seem to be growing really slow. I dont know if that is normal for Taccas or if it has something to do with how they germinated.
I have tried starting Taccas from seeds 3 other times & have never had a single one sprout.
We've got Taccas native to this area and they seed freely and are coming up everywhere. But I bought seeds of a different variety and none of them germinated. They say if the seeds are too old they're no good. That might have been the problem. When you buy seed, particularly like on Ebay, you never know how old the seeds are or their history.
Hi , A friend of mine who owns a tropical plant nursery told me that after the flower wilts you take it and encircle the plant base with it and allow the seeds to self germinate. It may seem a little unsightly but before long you'll have all these little plants growing at the base. I have shared this plant with many of my friends.
I have two baby plants, not from my seed, nothing has germinated thus far! I'm waiting patiently for blooms :( One day, I hope :)
