My Volunteer Day

Glendale, AZ

I did my first full afternoon of volunteering for our local animal shelter. Well it hit 108 yesterday here in sunny Phoenix AZ. Not the day you want to do cleaning of both inside and outside kennels. We were a team of 3 and with scoopers and hose in hands we went to work. After raising 5 kids cleaning kennels is an easy job. Just scoop and wash. Wish I could of done that with all those messy rooms we had at our house. After of couple of quick escape artist and the fun of rounding them back up we finally got them all done. I was bone tired but with such a good feeling knowing that I did something to help these guys out. I can't adopt or even foster but what I can do is give my time. Next go around I plan to do some bathing and grooming. Sure helps to get adopted if you are looking and smelling your best. It's not all hard work since I plan to just do some sit and loving time. I know we all say but I never have time but believe me what little time you can give goes such a long ways to help. If one life can be saved it is such a reward for that "little" time we gave. I plan to post more and I hope other will share their experiences. Maybe with folks reading what can be done more will help.
