A continuation of the infatuation I have with these facinating plants..I came from here: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1021038/#new

instead of one, I have about 30.well maybe more.Wouldn't have that many if it were not for Dg friends. I have given away maybe 30. some are here in Kansas, in other hands of care. I can post pics of them as I visit them. Here is Alex...he is loaded with buds.

Most of my favorites are on the patio, so I can watch them. I have a long back yard, and the south fence has a canopy for shade of live bushes from the neighbors. The north fence is full sun until about 5:00 pm when the sun goes below the tallest trees in others yards around me.
This is the corner I grew my first brug in. it is on the west fence outside the dog run, and faces East. This is Wretched Mess (right) and First Bell. ( Left)

This is Damien, he came from JT, and is facing East under the Gold Flame Lonicera and Wisteria. He has Monardas and coneflowers for company beside him.

This is Cherub, who came to me as a rootball in a trade, she is under the old Pear Tree and has sent up two plants.

So nice Debra, will be looking forward to the continuing Angel drama.
Most of mine from last year did not come back. Have very few and they are small. As many cuttings as I sent in the mail thinking mine were coming back.....Sure do miss them. Peach Versa, Kay Harris Pink, Pink Beauty, Snow cone, none of the doubles, and the list goes on. makes me want to cry.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

aww Faye, let me send you the Pink Beauty you sent me I have going . I have an extra frosty as well. I have no clue what is a double around my bunch, but almost every cutting you sent me is in this yard. except for one insignia either you or lindakay sent me. it is at my sons.

Thank you Debra. I will be glad to send postage for any extras you have. And I did have Insignia, but that too is gone.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

The cubas, the insignias, your first white, your yardsale yellow are all still here, as well as the ones from Bonnie and Dollie and the seedlings from GordonHawk and Jt and Phicks and Brenda. Some are small and ready to put into the ground, I use plastic mesh netting in the hole before I plant them, add some pearlite to thwart the clay, AP and manure mixed in with MG and my kansas riverbed sand and clay. I have White Knight and Geargia Peach from Tropicman, as well, and If you don't mind some small rooted plants, I can get a few to you, too early for cuttings isn't it? Chrissy has a second shoot off her bottom it is almost two feet tall, Flame sent up another shoot well,it is am looking like my tree standards all have arms here. I took some of the nubs off chrissy and stuck them in pots to root out, that is what I do with those little finger like things when I just want growth at the top.. here are two of chrissy don't let me forget who they are, they are not tagged..they are in the blue tub with my mg caudex plant I grew from seed and the two white jmgs from Ronnie. If everyone knew how much I appreciate they things they sent me, it would be so nice, but I never see or hear from them hardly anymore, so if you are lurking here you guys.. you rock my world!

Debra, I'm so happy for you that your babies are doing so good. Sometimes when I go check to see if mine are coming back, I just want to cry because all I see are dead stumps. I totally loved every one I had.
Hope you will continue to be blessed with your beauties.
And yes, I will love any size and color.
Thank you so much.
Faye

(Kim) Philadelphi, PA(Zone 6a)

I am forever the lurker! ; } I will follow your adventure : ) I lost many beauties this past winter....but the affair is not over!!I have some seedlings growing nicely and a few named. Hello to you too Faye! I want to cry sometimes too they all are so beautiful.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Kim and Faye, I will get some of the plants back to you, You all got me started on this.. look who opened,, this came from Bonnie, ( AuntB) ,, gosh I miss her, I will be glad when she lets me know she is not working 12 hours a day at the plant place. That should be done around the end of this month. I can't stand working 9 hours a day, and I remember when I worked 12 to 16 hours a day 6 days a week.. Thank Goodness that part of my life is over!
This is visible from my kitchen window. It went thru a horrible 60 mile an hour and three and a half inches of rain last night that caused our little part of town to lose power. Power is on, she survived her bloom, tattered as she is, I think I need to move either her, or the windmill, as it was knocking her bloom all over the place last night during that storm.

My poor little girl, so strong and defiant, she held up so wonderfully , she reminds me and reprimands me all the same time,
get rid of that thing she screamed at me, yes, maam I nod ,you're right, I agree! Then I look at her and adjust her gaurdian angel, click my tounge and say.. you just need to grow taller than the windmill your highness, so get on with it! Then she says , look just smell my bloom.. I did and then I fell into a swoon, I have never smelled such a scent, your wish is granted, I will move it..

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

I have trimmed those bushes behind you, snipped all the poking things away, I am sorry I didn't think that the windmill tail would be in your way. I had no idea Your highness, your bloom would be so long.. please forgive my ignorance, I have alot to learn..

Your face is so beautiful, your tendrils so very long , I am not used to such lovelyness, and especially your scent so strong.

Debra she is breath taking.

Betty Marshall is Y'ing, I am so happy, I didn't get a Y out of last year.. Frosty has 9 blooms on him. I have inspected Maya and Peachs and Cream and have not found any more worms on them since I have been picking them off thank goodness. I treated them to a drink of Charley Poo tea since they were such good girls. Damien from JT is Y'ying as well. I blew my back again while moving around the big pots on the patio and re-arranging them, so I started the excersizes back up again, walking around and hanging from the waist down while looking for and pulling weeds. Two Naproxins in me now, so have to really think positive. Mind over Matter. While cutting away the sweet autumn clematis that was eating the mimosa tree out front and to the south of the neighbors and my fence corner, I found these horrible alien looking bugs That I HAve Never Seen in My Life. They were sucking the blood out of that poor vine, leaving the voracious honey suckle in there alone. I hobbled back into the house and came back out armed with sevin dust and yard bug spray. Starting at my garden I dusted and sprayed away from them. I ended up cutting all that stuff off and putting it deep into the dumpster. this hedge is only 20 feet or so away from my back Yard brug and tropical Garden. it is 5 feet away from my native prenniel garden and 6 feet away from my Cattalonia brug. I armed that area and feel like since I asked Dh to mow, maybe that will help. He mowed as much of the honeysuckle and sweet autumn as possible at the bottom of the fence line as I chopped away at the top/maybe my japanese morning glorys will kick butt now.
Those bugs were weird. they looked like little moving triangle dimension shaped black specks that crawled and flew. UGH!

well, that was four days ago and a doctor trip since, was able to hobble outside to take a picture of this b. suavleons white.. this is just the cutest dang thing, it only has 8 opened blooms and two or three more to come, directly across from Frosty only in partial shade, south fence.

I really like these Gloriosa daiseys..
they brighten up my area while I wait for the glorys..
after looking at ths photo closely, I see a hibiscus growing there, I hope it is from the root I got in a trade last year..

Wretched Mess, is a mess.. I don't know what to do, she has decided to become two plants, and I think she looks... well, like a MESS! LOL..I gave her bayer 3 in 1 four weeks ago, she gets fed the same as everyone else, the last time I had a brug there, it grew to almost 8 foot plus, this one is about two feet tall..( it is just half way thru June, right?) JT, if you see this please tell me she looks alright..
I am waiting for the garden Spider to come back to this area like last year. I keep trimming the trumpet vine above and to the North of her.. I have trimmed all the honeysuckle above and to the south of her, I pulled out the pink primrose and creeping daiseys to the front of her.. beware of any seeds called " Ground Orchid" they are nothing but DayFlowers..

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

I keep trimming this little pink i. purpurea , it is the only pink one I am letting grow and that is for a short time.. there are alot more interesting ones poppng up all around the bottom of that pole... I can't wait.. but I will... This is part of the view I see sitting at my patio table, looking north west.

This is part of the Southwest Corner of the patio, and to the left of them are my brugs.. These are the only glorys blooming here, I tore out the pinks already.. alot more cool ones are vining nicely.. I like the visibility of the south fence of brugs from this seat.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Half a month gone already, how does that happen? Time flys when you are having fun I guess ( That's what they say)
My half month has been painful and slow and I have done nothing but water and watch. Everything. I love my backyard.

Isabella has bloomed.

Thumbnail by joeswife
(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Here she is two days later from the picture above.
I like her cute face alot. She started off pure white and in two hours had her pink ring around her skirt.
She smells like my deceased Mother In Law sometimes. I like that too. She withstood 99 degree heat and no rain for three weeks, but she did recieve lots of spraying and feeding. She is on the South fence, with a few trees from the neighbors, and their overgrown Spirea shrub that I have mixed with Sweet Autumn Clematis, Major Wheeler and John Clayton Honeysuckle to weave it all together in a canopy, with a stray morning glory or two giving spots of colours in the ams.

The only other brug blooming on this 6 block area of town is Kaitlyn. She is about 20 feet down west of her.
Isabella is planted in a 3 gallon nursery pot, sunk into the clay ridden soil ammended with compost. She has some plants at her feet and some cedar mulch on top of her soil in the pot. I haven't had to mess with her alot. She seems happy to get a shower around 7 pm or so. She usually gets the spray using Kens Mix in an applicator set on Shower.
Because of her closer location to the house, she gets the spray a little more heavier, than her neighbors further west.
She has attracted snails and slugs, but I use Sluggo and that helps keep the activity down with a non toxic pellet.I mix the sluggo into the top of the soil and under the pots' sitting space where the roots will cement into the ground. I like it when I can't move the pot because of the roots. I use netting under the root ball and leave the edges sticking out on each side of the spot, so I can just water and lift the pot out this Fall. ( I can see my son coming over to help me now)
If I get a Pod ( I don't even know if two female named plants can be parents at this point, since I am new at brugs)
It will be from these two only. I am afraid to try to use a paint brush, since we have so many hawk moths, sphynx moths, lightening bugs, and ants all over things at night. The little tiney waspy looking fly or bee that they are , hang out in the flowers, but they don't move much. I have datura inoxia blooming, but it is clear on the North Part of the yard.
I do not think those can make a pod at all. Hope I am right.
