Tomato, pepper and eggplant plants, where to sell?

Atlanta, GA

Hi,

I have over almost 1000, tomato, eggplant and pepper plants that I need to sell. I was wondering if someone new a good outlet in which to sell them. They are well established in 3 inch pots, some are 10 inches tall while others are quite mature and are 20 inches tall. I have a list at http://www.arcadechips.com/plants/plants2010.htm let me know if you can think of a way I can lessen the load.

Thanks,
Mark Capps

Don't know what you have available locally, but I would try local Flea Markets or Farmer's Markets. Both are places I've bought plants.

Try advertising on Craigslist (CL) in the "For Sale" section "Farm + Garden" area. It is a free classified site that is all over the US.

Just an idea, if you want to sell somewhere like a particular Farmers Market, Flea Market or Yard Sale you can advertise the event(s) on CL (ahead of time).
With anything, consider your privacy (phone#, address, email etc...) work with what is comfortable with you. Get a feel of CL and it's community. Check out what others are doing by looking at their ads on CL.
Anyhow, it's worked well for us. We also purchase from CL. Some of the best plants come from home growers.
Navigate it to get a feel of it first. There is just so much you can do in it.

Atlanta, GA

Hi,

Thanks for the tips. I have tried CL and I sell vegetables and the downtown farmers market on the weekend. I have brought plants there as well and sold maybe 10, too many folks with condos:( I may have started too late this year. I was thinking folks would want some pepper and eggplants at least as the weather is warming up. It has been pretty cool this spring in Atlanta. I can always plant them all, 2000 tomatoes;0 The market here in Atlanta for these types of plants does not seem to be so good. I dont think many folks know what they are.

Thanks,

Although it is late for some parts of the country, you might try the DG Marketplace. That is if you are willing to ship...

Mike, I'm not far from you, and my garden has been pretty much full up for several weeks. My first tomatoes went out in early April, and I had trouble giving plants away much after that.
Hope you find a way :)
