When to plant Crocosmias?

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

I received 10 bulbs of "Crocosmia lucifer" (Montbratias) last week by sharing in a "group buy".....

They are an amazing size--and most of them already have 1"-2" shoots on them. I feel i should get these in the ground asap because of this.
WHEN should I plant these? Are they like Fall bulbs--or can I plant them now????? Not much info in PF on this....
If I plant them NOW--will they grow the foliage, but not bloom? Or--will they still bloom this year?

Thank you for any advice you can give me.......Gita

Plant them now...they should flower this year

Thanks, Bleek!

BTW, the bulbs were from you, via TouchofNature, and everything you sent in that order was fabulous! The crocosmia bulbs were half again the size of some I'd ordered elsewhere. :-)

We strive to be a good supplier with good service, excellent quality and a very good price. I am sure you know where to post your experience. Hope you are doing well.

Thanks for the nudge, Bert!

It is through the GW where we can learn from others about all the good and the bad!!

Yep, and it's no wonder that Touch of Nature and eFlowerGardens are always ranked highly! I always tell people to check the GW reviews before they order, even if they've had good or bad service from a place in the past, things sometimes change quickly.

Thanks from me too, Bleek!

I will get it as soon as I have time.....
One more question---Full sun?................AM sun?.................Bright shade? What light is best?
I imagine--Full sun???/

Thanks....

Just like Gladiolus.......no sun....no flowers. I would say a minimum of 6 hours of direct sun.
