which online nurseries do you recommend?

Scottsdale, AZ(Zone 9b)

Hi,
I am thinking of placing an order online mostly for floating plants. All the nurseries that I had pulled up have either bad ratings or no ratings on watch-dog. I would rather go with your personal experience. I appreciate any input anyone may have. thanks in advance.

The one Frilly listed many of us use. They have a great reputation. However, I'd just mention what you need, many of us have extra and when we split our plants. we like to share with others. Just a thought.

Hey Usha...I've ordered from ewaterlily.com and got great plants. Found out they are only about 40 miles from me now. I'm going to have to go and check them out.
Mary is right though usually ponders have plants to share. I will have water lettuce and parrots feather once it takes off in my pond. [=

TWL=best plants=best prices=best owners. Their rating should be outstanding!

what are you looking for???

Scottsdale, AZ(Zone 9b)

Hi,
thank you all for your support.
Hi blkraven2,
I am looking for 2 different floaters that can live through our winters. I am setting up 2 tubs on my patio for bowl lotus(just bought them from ebay). I want to include one fish and a couple of floaters to each bowl so that fish can be safe. I also have a pond in full sun where the extra floaters will go to.

Wells, TX(Zone 8b)

I lived in Apache Junction so I know about the winters there... make sure you check and see what kind of plants youre allowed here in Tx they dont allow water lettuce or hycantih.. considerd invasive plants..

I think it is parrots feather that I have in my little pond.. is that the long green feathery looking stuff? If so.. I am already cutting mine back. I can send some of that to you.. the parts I cut back every couple of weeks has roots so it should take shipping ok. I get my plants from TX waterlilies too... I just call them and say I want "something" surprise me.. they have always made me happy. I say how much I want to spend and they send.

Scottsdale, AZ(Zone 9b)

thank you LL. unfortunately they die down in our winters.

Mine die down also but come back in the spring... my pond even gets quite a bit of ice on the top.. it gets slushey but I keep the pump running so it stays with the center open .. temps were in the low 20's for quite a while this winter.

Scottsdale, AZ(Zone 9b)

WOW. That is awesome. I thought parrot's feather don't survive winters unless your plant is a different species.

A lot of my plants return each year as well. I live near Chicago and it's bitter cold here!

Phoenix, AZ

lovetropics, we need to get together! I've got pond plants that do just fine here in Phoenix. :)

will see you soon Katie.
Mothermole--what is your secret to keeping parrot's feather and other tropical bog plants alive despite your winters?

Deer Park, IL(Zone 5b)

tropicals I either bring inside and grow under a lamp or let them die but I have had some survive winters (parrots) near my appliance that keeps a hole in my ice (for O2 gas exchange). It's a de-icer and it's powerful. I have had a few plants that should have died return the following year.
My de-icer stays on all winter. Also my pond water is situated about 15 inches lower than the ground on one side because it is on a hill. My de-icer is there. I guess I beat the zone with the de-icer and the high ledge (stops the wind).

Scottsdale, AZ(Zone 9b)

wow. pretty hi-tech :)

Arlington, TX

Blkraven, what kind of floaters can you get here in TX? I used water hyacinth and lettuce but know those aren't shipped or sold here.
