What plant is this and will it survive totally white?

Baytown, TX(Zone 9b)

I saw this today where I was and thought it was a piece of paper until I got closer. If I dig it up and bring it home will it live? Or will I be wasting my time as it will die? There is a green one in the same picture. can anyone ID it?

It looks like a tree seedling, probably a pecan planted by the squirrels.

There are alot of Pecan trees on the lot. They are Huge so I was thinking the same thing. Will the snow white one live?

Thanks Frostweed.

I _think_ it will turn green like a normal tree. They start out like that sometimes. Some sort of weird mineral imbalance from what was left of the nut? Some adaptive advantage that in some of the seeds, the first few leaves are different colored?

If it is truly white and doesn't develop, the answer would be no. It would not survive.

The green is necessary to process the needed nutrients. If a variegated plant should develop a white 'sport', when it is removed the cutting will always dies. I agree with realbirdlady ~ this will turn green...

I agree, I have never seen a white pecan tree, so there is something wrong with that one plant.

Well I am sure it will be mowed down before it either turns green or dies so I will not bother to dig it up. Thank you all for your answers. I really appreciate it.
