I cannot believe that my three foot wire giraffe had a swallowtail emerge inside it. I saw something moving inside the giraffe's head and went outside to see what was the heck it was. A swallowtail with empty chrysalis as evidence emerged inside the giraffe. It was desperately trying to get out, however the holes are only about 3/4" round at best. Soooooo off I go and get the wire cutters to set the little critter free. I have no idea how long it had been in there, but it showed no signs of being tattered. I heard a whisper as it flew away that sounded like I hoped was, "thanks"! That's my story and I am sticking to it.

Glad you saved the butterfly and were able to set it free!!! Caterpillars will sometimes crawl into the most oddest of places to pupate!
