Just found your thread Susan. It cracked me up. Nicely done!

Have you seen this clip on my Juvie House Finch? It's the Mother that applied tough love, Papa usually seemed to be wrapped around the fingers (beaks in this case) by the little darlings. lol.

Here you can see the Juvie obviously begging for food. Papa gladly feed her, but watch for Mom--Momy dearest is approaching....watch (Suspense music needs to be added):

Lily, Awesome video. I just saw some grackles doing the exact same thing in the grocery store parking lot a few days ago. The male was feeding a scraggly looking youngster and the female swooped in and broke up the feeding moment. I just thought it was a female grackle attacking some other grackles youngster. I'll bet it was this same thing though. Interesting behavior.
