Have you successfully sent seeds to the US? Do you have a phytosanitary certificate?
I've heard a lot of reports of incoming seed packages being confiscated by customs coming into the US.

It is free and really easy to get a "Small Lot Seed Permit". You can fill out all the forms on the USDA website and then you just have to go to a local office and show ID. The most difficult part for me was remembering to go to the office. Once that is done you can download the paperwork from the website(they will also mail a copy with labels to you). Once you do that, you mail the label and a copy of the permit to whom ever is sending the seed and they follow the simple directions and mail back. Doesn't take long at all.

Wow! I receive lots of seeds and plants internationally and the USA doesn't confiscate anything. And it even has the contents listed (plants, seeds, etc) I wonder what's going on. I recently had a HUGE International order sent to me with No problems.

Go to the trouble to get a permit. The USDA seized plants from me, two years after I bought seeds on Ebay.

Definately get the permit--I too have received plants and seeds from other countries, yet EVERY seed order from Chiltern was confiscated. There is nothing more heart rending than opening a package (yeah they still send it on) and finding the "letter" they replace the contents with. Permits are free and worth the minimal effort.

thats something i havent seen this year in stores is the tricolor

Someone sending you cuttings wouldn't last in the mail anyways. It's illegal to ship and receive plants from other countries without the permit big fines. plants are confiscated even when their shipped from Canada.

Elk Horn, KY

would i get fined for mailing them?

Jasper, AR(Zone 7a)

No, it is the responsibility of the recipient to determine what protocols are required for their country.

hi ladys and Guys

I've been trading world wide for 15 years now.. I have received plants from all over the world and includes Russia and Australia, and I MEAN living plants. No problem for me since Spain doesnt have an strict custom rule regarding this, maybe it should but it doesn't right now.

The same goes for living plants travelling from here to abroad. I'm proud to say that the only Canarina Canariensis alive outside this territory is no other place but CANADA !!!!! yes Canada ! It is of course kept in a nursery due to the drastic change of climate, but it is in perfect conditions.

I've traded with lots of users here in DG and only once my seeds never arrived but I guess it was not due to the Usa customs or spanish ones but to the walking disaster we have as post man..

I have purchased and traded for plants & seeds from outside the US., they mostly arrive. On this end tho the permits are so easy to obtain and then all the bases are covered. I have persian shield-- it is winter dormant here, plus I transplanted, so not big enough to divide just yet-- if you don't find it elsewhere-- I will send some to you when it is, just let me know.

Thank you Hillbilly ! you are very welcome!! I will be patient and when ever you think they are big enough to be divided then that will be the perfect time for me

Thanks for your generous offer
