I do the renovation next year

Floyd, VA(Zone 6b)

This is going into the third summer of living here. I was 65 when we moved in so I had no time to lose.
That fall I planted daffodils mostly and maybe some slips of this and that. Then I winter sowed and had too
many to get around planting. I still have a few waiting for placement. I did order quite a few iris (all kinds) and day lilies as well as peonies. Last summer was the first for real blooms of the winter sowed things.

I have a back row of Olympia verbascum backed up with towers of wire supporting clematis. Then I have
hollyhocks delphiniums, and foxgloves. I want everything tall I can find back there. This year I added three kinds of tall
dahlias which may be pretty or may be ugly. I have ordered verbascum Banana Custard and found my stash
of Olympia and started them today. The rest is echinaceas, other verbascums, hydrangeas, iris, day lilies,
rudbeckias, Shastas of many varieties, chrysanthemums, and short delphiniums. It has more or less come
together with the backbones in place. However, I lost the last half of April and all of May due to a stoke and becoming septic as well. Thank God, I am functioning very well with the slightest speech slur and
atrocious writing.

Now I am starting Telham Beauty campanula, Campanula glomerata, tall balloon flw, all kinds of hollyhocks short and tall, the Olympia, and a couple of other things. This is the second batch of seedlings
I have started. Most of the first, delphs, foxgloves, verbascums, and dozens of phlox I increased through
propagation, etc. are doing well. My primrose bed seems to be coming around too.

I don't see how I can afford to die with my borders incomplete so I have to rush around like a crazy woman, sowing, planning, and thinking.

I look at the pictures of your lovely gardens and know I will not reach to neatness nor the planning that
went into them, but I am attempting to.

Gloria - sorry to hear of your health issues, I guess they are just common as we age.

Your gardens sound beautiful.

I hope you post a few images when your yard is in it's glory this summer.

Gloria you are doing very well considering what happened. A garden is a great place to relax and enjoy yourself. Please do post photos of your garden this summer.

Gloria, do hope you are improving and have been enjoying your gardens this summer. I saw in your blog where you ordered some more seeds from T&M..Gal, you've got to slow down and live a little; you're working yourself to death. And who's going to appreciate it all but you? Glad you have good hired help(neighbor)?
