Duck making squeaking noise not quacking whats wrong?

Conroe, TX

One of our female ducks is making a squeaking noise when she tries to quack. what would cause this? She seems to act normal otherwise.

It may be nothing...or an allergy or early stages of a bacterial or fungal infection. Here is a site discussing a duck with a respiratory problem (more severe than yours) and possible causes and treatments:

We have two ducks that have weak quacks. One we call "Whisper" and the other was the one that got attacked (we think his quack was normal before that, but not sure). I haven't been worried about it, but maybe I should be!

As a general rule male ducks don't really quack the way the females do so weak may well be normal.

Oooh...I was wondering how to identify what sex my ducks were. Figures with my luck I'd have more boys than girls...seems to be a trend!

Yeah, the males have a more raspy quack, the females have a loud quack.

This duck is a female and she has quacked loudly before, she is just sqeaking now. She acts normally and sometimes quacks normally so we arn't sure what is going on.
