Sweet Rocket

Colorado Springs, CO(Zone 6a)

I have fallen in love with sweet rocket this year...it smells so divine! Almost like hyacinth, but not quite. This is its second year after winter sowing last year - and it is going to town. I know this is an invasive in some areas, but not mine so don't shoot me.

Looks kind of like phlox. How long does it bloom?

Colorado Springs, CO(Zone 6a)

It does look a bit like phlox. They have been blooming since the middle of May - so a while so far - and it's not really showing any signs of slowing down. I really like it! I think maybe more people call it Dame's Rocket.

This one might be a better picture of it. This was taken 2 weeks after the first one I posted...just gets better right?

Does it make seed?

Colorado Springs, CO(Zone 6a)

So cute Poly! Angele, I started the ones I have from seed, given to me by my aunt. So it does for sure make seed, mine hasn't yet but my goal is to collect some.

I LOVE sweet rockets! I had some at my house in southeast kansas that an older lady had given me. I don't think you could get rid of them if you wanted to. They multiply like crazy. My ex-husband was such a nasty gus that when I went to move out of state, and he bought the house from me, he wouldn't let me come get any starts in the spring. A real toot head. I would love to have some more but haven't seen them anywhere.

oh my ...... haven't heard from anyone yet. :-( They multiply prolificly. You can pull up little starts of it and plant. They will bloom way into the late fall/early winter. Up until first freeze in Southeast Kansas. I REALLY need to find them again.

I'll be collected a ton of seeds from mine soon. So I'm keeping this thread watched so that when I come up for some air this winter I can hopefully send out some for trades or sase's. I see a couple people on this thread would also like some. Susanne

Very kind Susanne. I don't have a lot to trade, but may have something you would like. If not and you would do a SASE, I would be happy to do that! Thanks!

i also would like some, trade or postage. thanks

I would love some too - either trade or postage.

I too had planted some seed, and the "dames" rocket came up, and was doing fine, until this fall, when a busy squrril planted nuts, while we were on vacation. I had bought my seeds from Thompson.
As always, I need to replant, so if there any seeds, LMK, and Chantell, yours too. Mike
