guniea hen ?

Presque Isle, MI(Zone 5a)

I have an 10 week guniea hen chick in a cage. How long before I can let it run in the yard? It seems to have all of its feathers.

Wow.. I'm sorry you didn't get a response for so long!
I don't know much about Guineas but at that age, it should be fine to go outside.. just as long as it knows where to go in for shelter at night time.

it is ok to let it out. i let mine out at 6 weeks.

I let mine out at about that age. Please be aware of predators though - our dogs killed one of ours. I wonder if anyone has any advice about teaching them to fly into the rafters of a barn or into a tree to get to safety? We have three left out of six (another died from a hawk or some other predator, and one was a mystery - we think he may have flown into the wall of the coop and broke his neck). Right now, I've got them in the coop with my chickens, but they're not doing much for pest control (which is why we bought them) in there.

they should do that by instinct, when they are old enough
