Finally after four years my passionflower vine has taken off. It has even had one bloom open and it was beautiful. The problem is that most of the blooms turn yellow and fall off before the are big enough to open. The plant looks very healthy with dark green leaves. The plant gets sun from morning until a little after noon. It has been really hot the past couple of weeks with temps getting up into the 90s and we have had little rain, though I have watered. This is my first attempt at growing passionflowers and would love any help or information.
Help the flowers are turning yellow and falling off
Is your plant in the ground or a pot. I'd suspect either over watering or under watering. I grow quite a few different ones and I've found they like very well draining soil, and to dry out between watering. One other thing is if you have fertilized ?
I have not feed it and more likely under than over watered because we have had almost no rain for a couple of weeks and I have only watered it a couple of times. Some of the vines come from plants in a large pot and some from the ground. I have not traced back to see which the blooms are on. Should I fertilize them?
Just water well first, then use a balanced fertilizer half strength or I like the "shake and feed" bloom buster. Just follow the directions. Make sure they are allowed to dry out in between watering, then water thoroughly, really soaking, then dry out again, (not to the point of wilting tho)
