who really knows what black tip (BT) is??? the jury is still out. all i know is that it can be treated in some cases.
just thought i'd post some pics that i took today of three tips on two different singapores that were completely covered with BT. these tips were treated daily with alcohol at the onset of BT. oddly, the BT continued to spread during treatment. daily applications continued after the tips were completely covered with BT. at some point, the BT begin to dry and crack and een started to show through. daily applications continued until i was certain that the BT was dead.
the tips do come back slowly, which isn't a problem. at least they made it through. a bonus is that the plant starts pushing out new branches in response to the BT. it thinks that the tips are goners. once the tips bounce back from BT, you have more than what you started with and you lost nothing but time. woo hoo!
black tip update
I wish you would have showed what it looked like before you treated it I have never some times i get 2 tips like that I just figure cold got it I have never treated for this
i'll check my computer for the dana. however, you should no that BT is just that - a black tip. it's not brown like winter damage. anyhoo, let me go find a pic...
try and visualize the entire tip covered by black.
now here are some cases where action wasn't taken and the BT "ate" into deeper layers.
