There was a hawk flying around this morning. First the Bluejays in the back yard started squawking and then, the hawk flew to the front part of the yard. About 10 purple martins flew around him high in the sky making circles. He left quickly. I thought this was interesting.
Purple Martins-Hawk
Hi birder, I think it is neat to see the different birds that will take a risk to badger the hawks. I think the grackles and jays are quite brave at times if not foolhardy.
I enjoy just watching the birds. I guess I really like watching the P.M. as they are such social birds gurgling and chattering to each other and even visiting each others nests. I enjoy watching their graceful, almost falcon like, flight. It's nice to have birds that are not so territorial. They all work together for the good of the colony.
That is very nice, wish they could all be that way.
