After the contracts for placement of gas lines were signed, the pipeman arrived pdq. Here's a photo of a slice of my woods being cut outside of the boundary of the contracts.
I took this photo after seeing nice pines lifted up from the ground and carried up high by and unceremoniously dropped in a growing pile.
Mr. Pipeline Boss hisself rolled up in a pickup, and pronto called his superior telling them "she's calling her lawyer". No, DH called HIS lawyer. This illegal activity was halted and this mad post surgical hen retreated to her house.
We now have 3 pipelines soon to cross this property with one being a tie in to a new line going into the neighboring property. The 24" pipe on our place will run 3' underground 700' from the road. It then dives 30+ feet under our wetlands for 1/4 mile, starting at the wall of woods pictured till it exits our property and 600 ft later will once again be minimally underground.
The Pipeman Cometh
Sorry to hear...I know how much it must hurt. True Texans love their land.
I am sorry about the destruction, wish there was a better way and that they were more careful.
For the bright side, I have a 2 big piles of coarse mulch . My son starts working on the site today and the checks cashed for selling some land and living with gas lines totaled 45% of the cost of the land. That's something.
The vast majority of the pipe is buried so deep, the vegation and trees are not disturbed.
Still, our choice was not to disturb the land but it was a losing battle. I've been keeping close to home lately, venturing out only lately and I can't believe the wells drilled in a 2 mile radius in the past few weeks. This hotspot of the Haynesville shale had changed forever, leaving some with regret and some very rich. Those states of being are not mutually exclusive.
Your son is a doll. If I wasn't married......and much younger......I'd be D-mailing you for his number. What a cutie pie!
morganc I was thinking the same thing :o)
Bless your hearts morganc and ilovejesus99. My son is as sweet and good natured as the day is long. He's awesome but I'm holding my breath for a while as dangers, toils and snares abound for youth today. He's a youngin yet.
Oh, I don't know.....he looks old enough for me.....how about you 99?
:-)
Down! morganc, Down!
lolol, he's really a total pkg, except the education part. Wants time off from school and he's getting it...
I told him I didn't think the Chinese worked their populace this hard and he said he got word from the boss and the boss wasn't playin'. The boy will work the crazy schedule for 7 or so weeks. He says he wants to buy a four wheeler and entertain the Dallas and Houston girls who run up this way for college.
His sister
