Coneflower 'Marmalade' (Echinacea purpurea)
Wow, nice!
Thanks. Yes, it's a pretty neat new one out this year by www.greatgardenplants.com.
Jon
Actually it was developed in the Netherlands by breeder Arie Blom. Nice!
Yes, it's new in the USA this year. I think he develops the best coneflowers, particularly doubles. There are some others of his I'm hoping make it over here in the next year or two. The Dutch create lots of flowers. It's not just tulips.
I love it, I've have tried Echinacea a couple of times and failed, must not like my clay soil but I do hope to try again and these colors draw me in.
Hmm, that's odd. Did they die during the year or fail to return/put out fresh new growth in the spring? In the last couple of years I've been a little more patient hoping they would return and some return quite late with new growth. I'm sure I had pulled a few out prematurely in 2008 & 2009 that might had returned if I had been more patient.
Sue, I have had the same difficulty and from other people I have heard the same thing. Even in containers at the nursery I work at only the purple ones seem to come back, and that is iffy....
