I already lost 1 of my tiny Silver Sebrights to this now the other hen is bound. I brought her in at Midnight and put her in a sink of warm water and massaged her for about 15 minutes. Then I wrapped her in a towel and held her on her back under a heat light and massaged her with no luck. She is still in the box and has been since I found her Sunday morning at 3 a.m.
What else to do before she dies. All I will have left is the baby hen which is about 1 yr old
Egg Bound Help
You can break the egg internally and then make sure you get the bits out. There will be explanations on the internet....it is sort of the last thing to do, but it can work.
The only other problem would be if she is "laying internally" where they eggs drop into the abdominal cavity and collect. There is nothing that can be done in that case.
Is it possible to slip your finger (greased) in and feel the egg? At least then you would know where it was.
Looks like a lost cause. I worked with her several times today and just a minute ago. She just screams when you touch her. I can't feel a egg. There was a egg in the box but I think it was from the little one since Momma is still staying in the box.
Thanks for the suggestions
o.k. did I make a mistake?? She was out for a long while this morning and there was no egg but she went back in. Is she going broody??? Remember I am totally new to chickens and have never dealt with any of this before
You know when you said when I touch her she screams the first thought that come to me I wonder if she could be broody.LOL
Does she have any eggs to set on? You might give her a few and see.. :) That would explain why she stopped laying. Sometimes it takes a week or so before they stick like glue to that nest! :)
I took the egg but I can put some Araucana eggs in there I collected to day and maybe the baby will lay another one
