CLOSED: help me ID please

Could you tell me what these two birds are Please?

Bird 1 was catching and eating grasshoppers.

Bird 2 was casting over the water to catch insects. I was watching barn swallows do this and thought I had finally caught one of those fast little birds. When I downloaded I realized it was a different bird.

Looks like an eastern bluebird to me...they do eat insects so that would fit.... Betsy

Thank you for the Ids I never dreamed #1 was a bluebird. I never saw the blue on him. He appeared gray. Does the Eastern bluebird usually get that large ? In this picture you can see him with the Male Cardinal. Sitting in the tree he was larger. The Cardinal was closer to me when he flew off. Cindy

Females (which yours is) are much less blue than males. Yep, about right on the size comparison to the Cardinal. Cardinal measures longer in book length, but that includes its longer tail.
