These are HARD id's. Veery's are not supposed to occur around here, although 2% or less are seen in the Western part of WA state. Sorry the picutures are so bad. Taken through the window in the rain.
CLOSED: Veery or Hermit Thrush?
Looks pretty plain as far as the chest goes so it most likely is a Veery.
Obscureness of breast spotting makes it Veery for me too
Resin
Thanks, you guys. I just wondered, seeing they are so rare here in the Western side of WA state.
Only looked fairly quickly last night (was in a hurry to get out to see a Temminck's Stint!) - hadn't read the location comments well. On second look, more inclined to think probably western 'russet-backed' subspecies of Swainson's Thrush.

Resin, my field guide does show the pacific coast Swainson's and it look's identical to this bird and it states that they are redder on the pac. coast. Great stuff Resin. Props!!
You are probably right, though the eye ring is certainly not as defined as the Swainson's is supposed to be. I do have plenty of Swainson's around, I know, but I was under the impression they were a little sleeker and not quite so chubby. As I said at the beginning, this group is very hard to id.
