Five visited today....four pictured here.
Blue Crown Conures
Turned out they were after my Sunflowers, which have gone to seed. Right after I sneaked this pic, there was a loud commotion and a large Hawk tried to get one of the Conures. I'm sure it missed, then flew into a large tree in a neighboring yard. Then Blue Jays started yelling, and soon the tree was full of Jays, and after a minute the Hawk took off and was followed by several screaming Blue Jays.
Well that was a neat visit! I know there is a lot of wild (escaped) parrots in Fla. Glad they came to see you!
I'm like Resin, I don't even have a seedling coming up yet!! I guess you could replant some of your current seeds and still have another crop coming up-you're lucky to live in a warm spot!
The parrots are so cute. I had no idea that you could ever see wild (escaped) parrots in Florida. Glad you got time to photograph them for us.
Glad the brave jays ganged up on that hawk!

Two came back around this morning just before I had to leave for work and managed to eat some Sunflower seed. I hope they come around again when I am outside and ready with my camera. If I can attract these kinds of birds, I will be starting a second round of Sunflowers for sure. I am getting some nearby trees taken down next week, and then I think I will plant more seed.

That last shot is just beautiful GP! How amazing to be able to see so many. Before you know it, you'll be planting more and more seeds for them.
Wow...can't imagine that!
I need to plant some sunflowers for the finch...I keep forgetting!
Great shots GP! So nice to have such a different visitor!
Wow GP, those are wonderful shots. Very pretty birds in a nice setting.
They are beautiful, GP. Are they native to your area?
They have managed to survive here, Margaret. As far as I know, these birds (relatives) escaped from a pet shop many years ago, and have been living in the area ever since.
Some have just arrived again this morning. I guess they will keep coming as long as there are still seeds on the plants. Went out and there were eight. A little too dark for pics, so I got a pair of binoculars and just watched them a while. They are scattered over all the plants and they will probably finish off most of the seeds this morning.
