Seedlings

Jacksonville, FL

Some of the seeds I planted are coming up nicely--I planted them on 2-week intervals. Some are not germinating yet but I don't give up easily!!

What crosses are you growing?

Mulberry, FL

You got lucky mostly I get old seed they take forever to germinate and rot as a result are you peeling the seed?

There are quite a few crosses. NOL X Dola, NOL X Painted Lady, Dola X Tiara, and several others. I did not peel the seed, but did soak them overnite previous to planting. I am waiting on the others to germinate--should be soon!!!
These seeds were fairly fresh I believe

If the seeds are really fresh, the germination rate is very high if you started out with sterile starting mix. The older the seeds get the longer it can take some seeds. I like to peel my seeds. That way I know for sure how many seeds I started off with. If you planted the seed with the cork intact and pollination was incomplete, some of the corky coating may have nothing inside.

Hopefully you will get some lovely flowers from those crosses..NOL is a beautiful Brug...and I love the pinks too.
Then again every cross is exciting isn't it.....that's why we love them...lol

Betty--I have always had great luck soaking them overnite with Water and a little hydrogen peroxide. I generally nick the seeds, but I don't peel them. I am thrilled with the fist batch that have germinated and hope the others do equally well.

These crossses could produce some really nice brugs or not. Only time will tell. I will enjoy watching them develop and seeing how hardy they are in Florida heat.

Will keep updating from time to time
