So I bought this cabbage at the grocery store, ate the leafy parts, and planted the base in the garden back in Jan. It actually sprouted some new plants, which produced flower stalks, which now have made sort of a lot of little seed pods.
All very fascinating. However, I really don't even like cabbage, and have never grown it, and it's just silly cheap at the grocery store anyways. Does it make sense for me to continue with these seeds? Are they likely to come true (or come not true in some fascinatingly bizarre way)? Would some random variety of cabbage be likely to grow well in Texas?
cabbage seeds?
I can't address the main question, but I know bees and presumably other beneficials love those flowers. I'm having a lot of problems with pollination on my squash and cukes and I can't help but think anything that attracts the pollinators would be good.
Yeah, they were all over it. The flowers were out early, when it was still too cool for most other things. So I seem to have gotten really good pollination. Unfortunately, that time of year there weren't any blooming veggies (just onions and spinach and such).
