I'm having a problem with some of my grass. It turns powdery and like charcoal ash when you rub it. Tina

Tina, do you have St Augustine? You might have black fungus, caused by too much rain and below-normal temps. Easiest thing to do (if this is what you have) is to put down either corn meal or milk (yes, milk). I got this from Howard Garrett "The Dirt Doctor" several years ago and it works great. Or you can simply do nothing and when things dry out, the St Aug will recover and go about its business.

Not sure what kind of grass i have, it's a rental and we just moved in January. Thanks though i will definitely pass that on to my dh.
