Weekend TXRound up-October 2010

(Nadine) Devers, TX(Zone 9b)

Here I am 3rd time trying to have a round up here at my place. Everytime I try to have one..some hurricane comes along and messes me up. Rita and Ike made a mess of things here. So now I am back on track of having my place cleaned up,yard cleared of tree limbs , painted the house(Thanks Kenboy for a great job you did),new roof and whatever else is needed to be done etc..
I am hoping to set a weekend date in October 2010 soon as I check into few things here at work like vacation time to do this..LOL..
Why am I doing this for a weekend?? Am I nuts?..NO..weekend will let all of us enjoy time to visit, time to swap, time to sleep, and time to EAT!!
What about everybody pitching in $$ for themselves and I have someone cook the food here all in one place so we can have a variety of foods here to eat? Instead of see who brings what to eat and have enough to go around.
Oh,kids are welcome here!! Have 5 acres to roam and play on and a swing..LOL..Maybe somebody can bring a inflated pool for swimming since I have a water well. More ideas from anybody will be welcome to keep kids busy.
There are 2 great hotels about 15 mins from me if you are traveling a long ways. I am between Houston and Beaumont,Texas off Highway 90 which is easy to get to.
If you have animals, you can bring them too providing that YOU keep them on leaches or in a pen. I have 2 dogs-Mini pin and Great Pryenees.I do have ?? chickens, pair of peacocks, and 1- pot belly piggy named Daisymae. So animals do not bother me here if you wish to bring yours.
I know I will need to depend on all gardening friends to help me out here since my hubby will not be here. If you wish to help out, Dmail me..You know who you are...LOL..!!!!

Magnolia, TX(Zone 8b)

Getting on my calendar early is the best way to get me there! lol
What MM on I-10 do you live closest to? Already thinking of setting up nite places.
So, count my crooked nose!

Beaumont, TX(Zone 9a)

I'm only about 45 minutes away I will be there, work schedule permiting.

(Nadine) Devers, TX(Zone 9b)

MM?-not sure what that means? I -10 is about 30 to 45 mins away from me coming from these 2 roads that come to Hwy 90 that are very close to me. Highway 61 to Devers and Highway 563 connects to FM 770 to Raywood. Excuse me, I found 3 hotels are located right off Hwy 90 in Liberty about 15 mins to and from my house. I am not sure what the rates are either..
1.Scottish Inn and Suites 2501 Hwy 90 936-334-1620
2. Luxury Inns & Suites 3564 Hwy 90 936-336-8300
3 .Residents Suites 2626 Hwy 90 936-336-5341

I have room for 2 or 3 self contained RV's if anybody want to park here..I just need to know so I can make sure we have room for you.
Plenty of room to pitch tents..LOL...so D-mail if you have any questions..

The weekend is like come in Friday morning and leave on Sunday...lol.

Beaumont, TX(Zone 9a)

MM is mile marker. If you are going to use I-10 you would probably to exit 812 and take a left on Hwy 61 and go about 14 miles to Hwy 90.

Magnolia, TX(Zone 8b)

I was just trying to get Devers in my head by I-10 MM. Guess I spent too much time in the Keys, where everything is figured by mile markers. I lived @ MM104. lol

Willis, TX(Zone 8b)

from Houston - - Best way is go old Hwy 90 thru Liberty-Dayton onto Devers...it's not very far east from Liberty

LOL..nope not me..My house sits between Highway 90 and railroad tracks. So the kids will get a kick out of the trains going by.....

Baytown, TX(Zone 9b)

Smockette You could also stay with me as I am not but maybe 30 min away if that much. We would have a blast like always.

Houston, TX(Zone 8b)

I'll keep this in mind... I've never been to a round up, and this one would be convienently located. I may not be able to stay all weekend, but it sounds fun! The weekend of Oct 23 is not good for me-- have a family reunion, then. Hope that's not the weekend you're thinking of... I'll watch for more info.

I am thinking towards the second or third weekend depending on my food cooking gang and my work vacation as I drive a school bus. You can come for few hours or stay one day or the whole weekend.

Magnolia, TX(Zone 8b)

When I asked where Devers was in reference to I-10, I was thinking of Sandy's. She is north of MM800! So, great mines are still thinking on the same level!!!
:~)

(Nadine) Devers, TX(Zone 9b)

I have been asked this question alot.. Do I have to bring plants? No..You can bring anything garden related or plants to swap with others OR don't bring anything.. it is up to you what you wish to do.

Houston, TX(Zone 9b)

Heya, Moodene!! I just came across this thread. I'll keep this in mind, though, I'll be out of town for the last two weekends of October. Hope you are doing well!

(Nadine) Devers, TX(Zone 9b)

Hi, Carter!! I am fine and been busy working in my yard...How are you doing??? I am thinking either first or second week of October. I will know for sure by July 1st since that is when the new school year calendar starts up again.

Big Sandy, TX(Zone 8a)

Hay Carter, should I bring one of our incubators to hum you to sleep? We just went to see Joan yesterday and she is doing good. She can't work outside as much as she wants but her spirits are good. It will be good to see all the old gang and some new ones also.

(Nadine) Devers, TX(Zone 9b)

We want pictures of this GP. Carter do you have a JRT again? I know the Greyhound you had at your TXRU was sweet but a bit shy, so I am guessing you will not be bringing her. We will be bringing our latest drop off dog, Poppy.

Because of being partially disabled, I think it would be best that we stay in a hotel. Can you give me hotel info. Needs to be dog friendly if possible.

We travel with our dogs and most all of the La Quinta's are pet friendly and with $0 deposit. Since you are coming from the west, there is two in Baytown east of Houston.
