I'm going thru my email which has been piling up unanswered for several days now and had a 'flyer' in my inbox from a glass artist I took a workshop from a couple years ago. He's in the Woodinville area and was quite the character. It was a fun class. It was definitely a step out of my comfort zone for me because I'm not really the creative artistic type and felt very inferior to everyone else in the class! At least when it comes to glass. (Much more comfortable with flowers. And food.)
Anyway, he's now doing windchime workshops. http://web.me.com/rattarart/ratXtra/Wind_Chimes.html
Maybe for summer 2011, if we planned ahead. The workshop is expensive and would require an overnight stay for many, but I envision that our chimes might be a group effort in that while I would make my own, each one of you would do a portion of it for me to include in my chime while I did portions for each of you. If that makes any sense.
These things look huge, maybe larger than I'd like and I'm not sure I care for the block of wood at the top which holds them together, but these are minor details and if we booked a workshop as a group, perhaps we could come up with something a bit more attractive to hold it all together.
Just a thought...
Possible future activity for us
Sounds great - I'm in.
Sounds good, planning that far in advance I'm sure to be able to attend!!
Count me in, too - sound absolutely marvelous!
I'd love to do it.
That looks AWESOME!!! Hmmm...... I wonder if we are making a trip to OR. next summer.
Jan, please book your flight into Seattle because the glass place is in Washington. LOL
Oh, I realize that, ^_^ but, I'd be coming from Portland since I would HAVE to visit the grandkids, don'tcha know.
Jan you can ride with me up to Seattle. Of course you are coming to Oregon next year! You must!
Thank you for the invite. LOL I know. By hook or by crook or is it Portland or bust? We will see them in August this year, but we'll be on a Caribbean cruise with them. It is defintely time to get back out to OR. Actually we'll see them this weekend in Texas for our son's wedding. I am just so excited.
I would love to learn a new skill. It might be something to go with framing, etc. Think I could claim it as a business expense?
So Jan why don't you just move here? It's a wonderful place to live!
Jan, I do think you could take it as a business expense!
We have toyed with the idea of moving at some point. After all who wants to live in NJ forever?
HMMM.... I was just joking about the business expense, but, it may just work out. We do have a small business, only word-of-mouth so far, but with Jeff teaching that's all we can handle. The framing jobs come in just when it seems we need some extra money. The NJ Division of taxation probably wonders what kind of business we have, when we send in such small amounts of tax that we have collected. I will have to do some thinking about this.
After moving here from San Francisco, a city I love, I have never regretted it. There is a different vibe here. It's just "different" and I feel like I belong here.
We lived in San Francisco for 4 years (81-85). On Balboa St. just a few blocks from the ocean beach and Cliff House. Loved it! Very poor at the time with tuition. Husbands school was in the western addition.
SF early to mid 70's. Fun city - started gardening there: was overwhelmed by the wide range of plant material.
I adore San Fran. Who wants to go?
Me. I am stopping in SF to visit friends on my way back from Fathers' Day in Tahoe. Springcolor I lived in Cole Valley, on the N Judah line, near UCSF.
