Woolly Torch, Cabeza de Viejo, Old Man Cactus, Old Man of Mexico, Órgano, Pitayó

Port Saint Lucie, FL

This old man cactus is about 10 years old. It was kept in a very small pot and didn't grow much. I transplanted it last summer and placed it in a very sunny location. Image my surprise when one morning, I looked at it and this beautiful flower was blooming.

Congratulations on getting the bloom, and I wish you many more.

Let's just say rare and hard to acquire one.

I saw some last night on Flicker. So cool. http://www.flickr.com/photos/33037982@N04/5731167649/in/faves-33909421@N03/

Though I must have been half awake last night. I had gone thru and found a bunch of photos I had taken of a friend over the years and then fixed them for printing. Took my hours. And this morning I went to send them to Walgreens to get printed and they were not to be found. Made me nuts. We are going to a 1 year memorial tomorrow and I wanted to bring them. So I had to go back and refind them and redo them all. So I was just a friend that the Pilosocereus leucocephalus might be gone too. LOL
