My Koreran neighbor gave me these 4 seeds- she said they will climb and make a nice vine- she puts the beans in rice, but said if I don't want to eat them they are very pretty flowers. Can someone tell me more? I don't like to grow anything I don't know about- thanks

Looks like Scarlet Runner Bean Vine.. They are in plant files and are edible.. Would be my best guess.. .
Good Luck

I'm 99% sure they are scarlet runner beans. They should have bright red flowers, which hummingbirds love to visit. The green beans are edible, they were the only ones we grew when I was a child. You will have to "string" them - we used to call them "string beans." They prefer cooler (not cold) temperatures, which is why they did well in England where I grew up - they will bloom, but not set pods during the hot summer months.

I have already purchased seeds for myself as I like the "beany" taste, but I will not sow the seeds until later in the summer so the pods can be picked in the fall.
