Spots on goatsbeard

Cedarhome, WA(Zone 8b)

I have two goatsbears (Aruncuc dioicus) waiting to be planted. One I purchased, the other is a start from my sister. I've just noticed the purchased plant has developed little dark spots on the leaves. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm assuming since it is in the rose family, it is likely black spot and will treat it with Safer fungicide. Any other ideas? Sorry can't post a pic, but my camera is giving me a "card read error" so I assume I now need to buy a new card for this brand new camera (arrgh).

Does the Safer fungicide really work for black spot on roses?

It seems to help, although I only buy resistant roses so it's not a huge problem for me. I did, however, inherit a couple tea roses from my sister, which I am anticipating being much more high maintenance.

I have two goatsbeard plants, and have never had any problems with them in terms of blackspot (definitely can't say the same for my roses!). Can't be much more help than that right now, but I will scope mine out in the next day or two and see what they are looking like. I just sprayed the roses this weekend, and know that the climber by one of my goatsbeards had quite a bit of BS damage already, so I would think that if my goatsbeard at it's feet is spot free, then there is a good posibility that you are dealing with something else.

Well, I just planted it down by the pond, and will hope for the best. It will have plenty of water (the water table is about 8" below surface) so hopefully whatever is bugging it (bad pun) will just go away.

I was also pleasantly surprised to see the darmera I plopped in last season down at the pond is taking off well, and TDF graciously gave me some more which I also planted in my wetness.

May is a lovely month.

Since we're talking about spray - does anyone have copper or daconil that they recommend for the dreaded Discula destructiva fungus that causes Dogwood anthracnose? I would really like to save this tree . . .
