Seeds from honeydew melons.

Wingate, MD(Zone 7b)

Can the seeds from a honeydew melon be planted straight from the melon?

Thanks

Yes, But you have no idea about the grothe characteristics. Commercial honeydews are hybrids and many times are long season varieties designed for Mexico, southern California, central American.

Farmerdill...Thanks for the reply. This honeydew was great with sweet taste,so thought I'd try. but I'd best go for some seeds at the farmstore.
Thanks

Last year I had some volunteer melons amongst my sweet potatoes and they were the most delicious melons I have ever tasted!

As Farmerdill has said - with hybrids you never know what you are going to get from their offspring.
