I have very active feeders.I am unable to attract, on a regular basis, the following varieties:Red Winged Blackbirds,Evening Grosbeaks,Indigo Buntings. These birds have been visitors, but for a very short duration. We also have Pileated Woodpeckers living in our woods, but they never visit our feeders.I have only seen one, one time in over forty years of living in this house.
Thank you for any help that you may render.

Attracting Birds
Someone will correct me if I am wrong, but I think during spring and summer birds eat other sources of food, insects and berries, etc. and don't spend as much time at feeders as in the winter. Of course, some of the birds go South in the winter.
Hi Rf, Can you tell us what you have out as far as seed, suet and it's location in your yard? I don't have Pileated Woodpeckers around but we have 3 pairs of Red-bellied Woodpecker's coming into the yard now a lot for suet which is hung in the tree against the trunk right where the trunk splits into branches. I use sunflower chips in 3 of the 4 seed feeders not including the nyjer feeder for Goldfinch. I know the Bunting might like a finch type food and like the feeder near cover.
