Brags Mountain Buffs?

Los Gatos, CA

Anyone know about these chickens. I understand that they lay a large egg. I would like to get some, but only a few..... Anyone have any?

Handsome birds. Sounds like they have been developed from the Buff Orpington.

Someone posted about them awhile ago....they do look very interesting. I guess they breed true?

If only it wasn't straight run....

Those are pretty expensive chickens for straight run, also if you have to purchase more than what you want. They may lay a very large egg but nonetheless if their consumption ratio is high then that defeats the purpose of the large egg. The consumer may benefit , whereas the keeper of the birds once again takes the hit. It seems to me that too many consumers already whine about eggs being to high, but they have no idea what goes into keeping these birds. I sell an awful lot of eggs but honestly it only pays the feed bill. My labor is pretty much free. Any money to be made here at least is from raising the chicks and selling them as layers. Hay. I'd sure like to hear from anyone really making money selling eggs versus the cost of housing and feed.
