i would not trust it for queen anne's lace unless i saw an umbrel with the red x in the center. they don't always get them, but most have at least one branch with it. i am pretty sure what you have is not qa lace because the leaves should be more ferny, almost like a parsley leaf. the stems should be hairy - can't tell from the photo if yours are. there are other things that look like qa lace that are dangerous so if you want to use it for something be sure of its id.

some good pictures here - http://www.ppws.vt.edu/scott/weed_id/dauca.htm

I thought the leaf looked different that is why I ask here. Here is a better picture of the leaves. I just wanted them because they are so pretty. I got them out of a field last year and 3 decided to grow from seed for me.

They did have white carrot like roots but I know better than to believe it to be Queen Anne's lace as all things seem to have an opposite. And one needs to know for sure.

It looks to me like Ammi majus, sometimes called false queen anne's lace.

http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/showimage/86125/ here is a picture of the leaf from False Queen Anne's Lace from the plant files.

Thanks for helping me find out. I will still enjoy growing them. They are really beautiful false or not.

After reading the DG page on that plant it sounds pretty invasive, are you sure you want to grow it?

I can always cut the heads off before they actually go to seed. I only have one in the ground and it is in an area full of parrot lily that took over so it would be ok. Any that get away the mower will take care of.

Sounds like you have a plan, I am paranoid lately as it took me a long time to get rid of tall Mex. Petunia.

Oh My Gosh I am still working on tall Mex. Petunia. It is a real booger. It was given to me free and got into my Crinums and Oh My....

Now I am fighting my neighbors Poison Ivy and not winning as he does not care.
You would think there would be a law against letting it take over. I catch it every year and it tears me up.

There is always round-up!!!

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Annette took the words right out of my mouth! I'm not a fan of chemicals in the yard or garden, but sometimes you just need some Round-Up! LOL I'm thinking of feeding it to my neighbor's honeysuckle that she planted on our shared fence. Blech!

Baytown, TX(Zone 9b)

Well a week ago I drenched a lot of young vines with round up and they are not dead only half dead. I poured gas on the roots of the big one before it came out of being dormant and needless to say it is fully leafed out and thriving. Why would gas on its roots not kill it?

New Waverly, TX(Zone 8b)

Gas didn't kill it because you didn't light a match!

I see one growing in my neighbors yard that is mass producing poison ivy so I went out and pulled all 3 that were in my yard up. They are not that pretty to take a chance and I will be fighting it because of him. GRRRRRR
