What is this Vine?

Baytown, TX(Zone 9b)

It hit me in the face and down my arm pulling it off a tree. Sure hope it is not a poison something. I know it is not poison ivy as my neighbor is mass producing it! Grrrrr

It is Virginia Creeper, and it turns a lovely color in the fall.

Ok Thank you all so much. I was worried as I get poison ivy so bad and I really thought it was trumpet vine. When it turned out not to be I got really worried.

Maybe I will let one grow.

Willis, TX(Zone 9a)

no, no, no, no, no - do not "let one grow". You will never get rid of it and in two years you will literally be pulling up dozens and dozens of yards of vine. Plus, some people have a sensitivity to this plant simular to poison ivy.

I have VC and it does keep coming back. I have also been told by several people that it does bother them somewhat like Poison Ivy.

buddywillistx, how have you been, I have not seen you around in some time? I think we got several Bamboos from you a few years ago and was wondering if you knew the species? Two were Black and Maggi says one was a Blue, although I do not see the blue in it. Also how is your Hellebores doing? Ours are doing great and we are hoping to do a Hosta, Heuchera and Hellebore co-op this Fall to get varieties that do well in the south.

Kenboy-sorry the bamboo wasn't from me. I don't have any. BUT!!! the hellebores are growing. I had three bloom for me this spring-one from the first season's planting and two from last year. My first and I am quite pleased. I have 4 raspberry heucheras that are taking off well this year and all have little pink spikey flowers. I will try to check the co-ops this fall a bit more regularly than I have been doing and I would love to participate in one you've described. The three perfect H's.....

Virginia Creeper is a lovely leaf and ground cover, BUT, when it gets a toe hold it won't let go. It likes to climb up trees and is very invasive. It has taken me 3 years to get rid of it. Pulling, pulling and more pulling.

This is leaving before it gets a good start. Thanks everyone.
