Nurseries Near Casa Flora in Dallas?

Austin, TX(Zone 8b)

Our garden club has been invited to tour the Casa Flora Fern facillity Saturday. I was wondering if there were any nurseries near there that we could visit before returning to Austin. The facility is off I45, Exit 277, to Simpson Stuart Rd, to Central Expy, to McCommis Bluff Rd. I'm not sure where that is in relation to other parts of Dallas. Does anyone know of any nurseries that we could go to in that area? Would appreciate any input. Sandi

Girl ~ does your husband know you are looking for nurseries? And where on earth will you stash more plants!!! LOL Hope you have a grand time!

If you knew a zipcode, you could cast about for spots right here ~ http://davesgarden.com/products/go/

Hey Thanks podster!! I've never seen that part of DG. Very cool!!!

Austin, TX(Zone 8b)

Podster, I should have known you'd know how to find 'em! BTW...DH is accompanying me.... We're driving up while everyone else is riding the bus we rented! The boy smokes and I don't think he'd survive 3 hours on a bus without smoking.
I'm off to find the zip code now.... How'd you get so smart???? And thanks!

Austin, TX(Zone 8b)

Wow! I had no idea that search existed. I typed in 75241....and sooooo many to choose from! Thanks Podster! We may have to take the truck instead of the car now!
'And I thought getting to see how they do tissue culturing of ferns was going to be the highlight of the day.....!

You are truly blessed. Your husband is so sweet and patient and such a good sport and a good squirrel trapper. ; )
Hope y'all have a grand time.

Oh yeah, he's just thrilled to be going. I know he's just protecting his credit cards!

He read me a letter he rec'd from the bank the other day. Said it had come to their attention that his wife had not used her ATM card in 6 yrs and that if she didn't use it before the end of May they would cancel it. He thought that was soooo funny! Well, I fixed that. I'd say that card has been re-activated now..... And the reason I hadn't used it....was because since he retired, he's either always with me, or he hands me cash....(which I rat hole)...and I use credit cards instead! Poor man....I am the thorn in his side....

Going to Forest Hill, LA. soon to meet up with the Mid-South gals to hit a few of the 92 nurseries along the highway up there before the swap at Jeri's. And yes, DH is going too....

You're right...he is very patient.....but I have caught him watching CSI, Criminal Minds, and Cops. Wonder if he's getting any ideas??????????

ROFLOL ~ I needed that laugh ~ thanks much!!

Acreage ~ that's what you need to be looking for. Will that fit on the ATM card? Then you can plant and landscape and grow to your hearts content.

Hmmm... CSI? Far better than HGTV where he'd be learning to turn you to compost. No one would ever suspect!

Austin, TX(Zone 8b)

I think I'm too old for acreage now!
I read him your post about composting...and he said, "hmmmm...." I don't like the sound of that! I'm gonna block HGTV for a while....

Incidentally ~ if you can't find your fav nursery on that listing, you can add it to it. Have you searched your home zip to see if there were any lurking that you didn't know about?

I'd guess not, not when it's probably full of female plant nuts! LOL Poor, sweet guy...

Austin, TX(Zone 8b)

Uh...I may have to repeat what you said to my garden club.....about "female plant nuts." I belong to the Garden Club of Austin, ...which used to be the Men's Garden Club of America, Austin Chapter. Then they started letting some of the wives join...and that led to their friends...and then it all went to %$#^ in a handbag for the guys! It's still referred to as Men's Garden Club by some. It's about 50/50 now. And the guys are as nutty about plants as the gals!!!
pretty funny

Deep East Texas, TX(Zone 8a)

All right!!! I stand corrected. A bus full of plain, ole plant nuts! Fun, fun, fun!

Austin, TX(Zone 8b)

I'm still tellin' on you!

Deep East Texas, TX(Zone 8a)

Ouch... will I ever live it down?

We do expect a "what I did on my weekend garden club tour" report when you get back.

Austin, TX(Zone 8b)

oh, I'm sure there will be stories...he's already sorta put out with you for showing me how to find nurseries with zipcodes.

Deep East Texas, TX(Zone 8a)

LOL ~ what a guy... I will just have to remember I'm on his "hit list" and avoid him should I ever get to meet you or I'll be compost.

Please, just remind him of my post above???

I think you're safe. He hasn't killed me in over 40 years, and I've annoyed him plenty!
