Still have a heat lamp in the coop. It's only turned on at night because the temps go down to high 30 to hight 40's/low50's. It's been warm during the day and gets hot in the coop during the day too so open the door and the little door to the run by 8 in the morning. None are panting and will sleep directly under the heat lamp (it get to about 75 degrees). How long should I keep the heat lamp on at night? (I keep the windows open 1/2 way at all times for circulation) They were born on 3/15. They are all feathered out now, and so beautiful! Thanks!

How long to heat?
I think the old rule is 95 degrees for day olds and 5 degrees cooler each week thereafter. However, I would just leave the light in there until they no longer sit under it.
Porkpal is right on. I would keep the heat lamp on for a minimum of eight weeks total. That would be two more weeks. Sounds to me like your doing well Annie and I sure do hope you enjoy your new found friends even as I know you will...Hay.
I was reading somewhere that the light promotes growth, and I keep it on at nights after 4 weeks, like today it will be in the 80's so I turn it off during the day and pop it back on at night... It also attracts bugs for them to chase...
