All the plants I bought at my last trip to the nursery on April 20th are long planted. So I think tomorrow will be a good day to go hit two nurseries that I go to each spring more out east than my regular haunts. I also go to the pond place when I do that trip as all three are pretty close together.
I want to buy more annuals. Probably a flat of petunias, hopefully red ones, Cut and Come Again zinnias so I don't have to start them, some cosmos and just look for inspiration. I am going to look for Gomphrena also as it was Kay that pointed those out to me.
Plus I will buy afew tomato plants and just whatever hits me.
Time to get more annuals.
Wait till you all see my haul from my buying trip today. Took pictures of everything before I even started planting and then I am taking pictures as I go along planting. Not going to have time to download and post pictures until later or maybe tomorrow.
I hit three nurseries today.
I bought two flats of State Fair Zinnias. One flate of the most glorious red, red petunias, one flat Montego mix Snapdragons.
Two flats of Portulacas, one said Sundial Mix the other Tequila Mix. They look the same to me. I never had these before.
A gorgeous purple daisey kind of flower and some Lobella Midnight Blue that I planted all together and made a planter container out of. I will show you the pictures, it turned out great.
Then 5 small pots of a lovely and new to me annual called Bidens Yellow Charm. The nursery guy said it just keeps right on blooming. Put them in some pots by the side of my patio.
A Salvia greggii called Hot Lips. Its flowers are small but lovely red and white, very eye catching. Of course, hummingbirds love salvia. Unfortunately it is only perennial in zones 7-9 so its not going to make it thru the winter here. So I stuck it in a pot instead of planting inground. I could still change my mind on that though as I just put the pot its planted in set into a larger pot. So it could easily be changed.
Also 2 of those 6 packs of tomato plants and one of cucumbers. Plus a small potted vine called black eyed susan vine.
Then I found the most glorious violas. As I was driving home, I could smell the sweet scent inside the car all the way home. Three large pots of Rebecca, tag said hardy to zone 5 and three small pots of Etain, tag said hardy to zone 4. Wait till you see the pictures of how pretty these are.
Wait till you all see pictures of everything.
After I planted the red petunias in the terraces garden in the backyard where I wanted them, I had one of the six packs left over. So I made a hanging basket out of them. Looks great. I am pleased with that idea. I hung it out in the garden where I planted the Rebecca Violas. Its just on top of them, in fact.
