Suggestions for good screen plant.

Lets hear them. The plant must be evergreen and get at least 10' tall or taller. I already have Oleanders and Red Tips. I'm looking for something else. Blooms would be a nice bonus. Located in Zone 9a, the humid gulf coast.

Little Gem Magnolia if you want a small tree. It blooms and is evergreen. If you don't mind having a trellis, Confederate Jasmine is evergreen, blooms heavily in spring and smells wonderful. Don't know how much space you need to fill, but something like Italian Cypress, or Blue Spires juniper could also work and give a bit of different texture. There are a number of hollies that would work too, including Yaupon. Southern Wax Myrtle is another choice. The wax myrtle and yaupon have the added benefit of having berries for the birds, if you like attracting them to the garden.

Hope these ideas are of some use.

I vote holly, too. There's one called winterberry that I think grows over there, besides the usual yaupon and american holly. (Are you making a hedge or do you just need one? If it's a hedge, I think I would try to mix in several things, maybe even including some smaller shrubs, which could fill in under small trees. Or throw in something deciduous with good fall color.)

Cherry laurel you probably have to fool with it a little to get a good solid screen. Or even some of those cold-hardy citrus, do the backyard orchard pruning style.

Thanks. I'm not building a hedge. I'm just looking for some tall shrubs/trees along the fence in my backyard. Holly is an idea I hadn't thought of. Someone at the nursury suggested "tea olive" or "sweet olive".
