Baker City, OR(Zone 5b)

Good morning farmers. It is a pretty day here, sun, cool but will warm up to about mid 70's, not windy. My weekend endurance ride went well. This one was on the eastern side of the Cascade Mountains about 75 miles east of Seattle. The leaves were absolutely beautiful, one rider saw a bear on the trail and just talked to it in a normal tone of voice until it ambled off the trail and into the brush. Her horse just stood calmly and looked at it. I saw a few deer, some other riders saw a lot more. The weather was perfect but frosty in the morning. Mid afternoon got to be t-shirt weather for some riders, not me. I rode a borrowed horse, she did the 50 miles with plenty of energy to spare. My team did quite well except for one of our riders whose horse went off the trail and got some minor injuries but enough to need some stitching up. I was the insurance rider on the 50 so my finish became important to the team at that point, not just to me personally. Hubby worked on a fence while I was gone. Now I need to get busy with things around here. Mules need a training session, garden cleanup continues, laundry is piling up. Hope all of you have a great day. Count your blessings.
