Wrong plant

Grapevine, TX(Zone 8a)

I ordered some bare root plants over a year ago and one was supposed to be Indian Pink (Spigelia Marilandica), but the plant I received is now clearly not the correct plant. Any idea what this might be?

Last year it only had one stem with a single leaf. It never got any bigger than this last year. This year it seems to have two stems.

I wonder if it might be some sort of wild ginger? Asarum canadense

It certainly looks a lot like wild ginger, and the nursery I got it from also sold wild ginger. I'm glad I picked up an Indian Pink elsewhere, so at least I have one of them.

Anyone have any experience with wild ginger?

I sure wish I lived in an area where I could grow Gingers, Epimediums ,Arams and that kind of stuff ... not enough shade or denseness in my yard. I do good with the Toad Lillie's.

Sylvia, why do you think you can't grow gingers? I do--right in my hosta bed. They do great in part-shade.

Dennis, if those start to spread and you have any extras, please put my name on one.

Sylvia, pbtxlady is right, most Gingers like several hours of sun a day. Lots of Hedychiums need several hours of sun to bloom well.

Oh yeah ... Ceejay gave me one and it in my Hosta bed. I dont remember seeing it this year.

Oh, I'll bet that was her cardamom. It's not cold hardy in a winter like we had. I protect most of mine for the winter, just in case. But the butterfly ginger I got from Sheila is in the ground and does fine.

Yes, I lost my Cardomon Ginger the first winter I had it. The white bf ginger is the mother plant, and I have shared for years with everyone.

Nope ... have not seen any more of it. Linda gave me a bunch of them she got from OK ... I think the Obediant plant took over.
