Blackshear, GA

My nun's orchids are blooming. I just love these

I had one two years ago but it never came back :-(

Very fragrant too.

Mine are just sitting there - one has about three leaves and the others have no leaves. The root system is doing ok - just no leaves.

Cape Coral, FL(Zone 10a)

Mine isn't doing much either.

I keep mine in the GH protected and warm so I guess that is why they do so well.

Look at the yellow one. I bought it last year in the 'markdown section', so I had no idea what it looked like. It's called 'mello yello'. It's so pretty!!

I love these plants....
Mine haven't made it the past two years. when I get some more, I'm going to keep them in a pot and bring them into the GH over the winter. Tired of these beauties not making it!

They do best if kept in a GH or inside during the winter. That is how I got my first one, my SIL had one planted outside and she got tired of it not blooming. She gave it to me and I repotted it, kept it inside during the winter and has bloomed ever since. I think she was really jealous when she saw it. I did offer to share it with her.

Mine is also not doing too well, there are a couple of leaves but no stalks coming up. It was so beautiful last year, I had at least 15 stalks with blooms. I moved a section of it to another place in my garden and it is just now starting to send up new leaves. Doubt I'll get flowers this year but at least it's not dead.

Here is one I bought earlier this spring:

GAgirl - how gracious of you! ;)
KayJones - Now I have to go out and find some!!!!!!

Lee's Summit, MO(Zone 6a)

I will be on the look-out for a greenish-yellow one, now! I have the buttery yellow, but they aren't doing anything - only one has put on a leaf and it's just sitting there!

Kay, didn't I send you one last year, you and your friend? Did it bloom? I am pretty sure that the one I sent is the yellow one. It actually says 'alba' on the tag - the 'mello yello' is a different one that has not bloomed yet.

Keep a look out, all these desperately need repotting and once they finish blooming, I am going to divide and repot. MAY offer some for trade, we'll see.

Keaau, HI(Zone 11)

GAgirl....want to trade for a 'melloyellow'? We have Nuns Caps growing wild all over the place....and my job this week end is go to around and tag all the blooming stalks so I can dig them up (talking about 16 acres) to plant in a big clump close to the house. I just love them!!!!! .....but i don't have any melloyellow?....

Lee's Summit, MO(Zone 6a)

Yes, GAgirl, you did! No, mine didn't leaf out, though it is still alive. I'm not sure why they aren't growing. I'll have to ask Stacey if her's made it.
