FUNGI!

Arlington, TX

I have a rock rose and it is looking like it will be very mildewy again this year. The first year I had it in a different place and it wasn't problem. But last year I moved it to a sunnier local with more room to grow and it was white and yukky all season. Now I go out and it is starting again. Is this a problem with these plants? They bloom so long and are so nice it might be worth putting up with some mildew but not as much as is on there now.

Try Halt by ferti- lome it will tale care of it. It works fast in a few days you will see results. After all the rain I have used it a lot

I've never had this problem with my rock rose. You could try sprinkling some horticultural cornmeal on the ground out to the drip line and do the milk spray on it.

I think yeah, it is a problem with rock rose.

Supposedly it is worse in high humidity, but I think what I am seeing is the opposite. Last summer, with no humidity anywhere ever, they still had kind of a lot of mildew. This year, with everything drippy all the time, I've only seen one teeny spot. So I'm wondering if part of it might be that the plant is more susceptible when it is already stressed for other reasons. I'm going to experiment this summer with being a little more attentive to making sure they're watered, and I added some more compost around the plants.

ETA I have native, Pavonia lasiopetala. So somehow they're adapted to this? Shrug...

Mine didn't have the problem the first year and it was in part shade in an area that holds moisture. I moved it to full sun and a raised bed and it has been a big problem. I am about ready to pull out the plant. I tried milk spray, didn't do much and I hate to use anything too scary. I did some research and this plant is subject to mildew. Is there a native rock rose that might not be? I am actually not sure which kind I have.
